Ataulfo mangos are small, golden-yellow Mexican mangos prized for their exceptionally sweet, honey-like flavor and buttery, fibreless texture. Each mango averages 7 to 16 centimeters in length and weighs 170 to 280 grams, with an oval or kidney-like shape. The smooth skin ripens from light green to vibrant golden yellow, occasionally displaying small brown specks or wrinkles when perfectly ripe. This package contains 6 mangos.
The tender, saturated yellow flesh has a soft, aqueous consistency that feels slippery and succulent in the mouth, with no fibrous strings. Ataulfo mangos have a thin seed, providing a high flesh-to-seed ratio and more edible fruit. Select mangos that feel heavy for their size, give slightly when gently squeezed, and emit a sweet, fruity aroma near the stem end. The variety delivers a rich, sugary taste intertwined with low acidity and tropical, floral nuances.
Ataulfo mangos are versatile for both sweet and savory applications. In Mexico, they are often peeled, skewered, and sprinkled with chamoy, tajin, or chili powder. The smooth flesh blends beautifully into smoothies, lassis, sorbets, and ice cream. Use them fresh in salsas, chutneys, seafood ceviche, salads, or as toppings for tacos and breakfast dishes. They pair excellently with cilantro, mint, coconut, pineapple, and seafood. Store ripe mangos in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days or freeze in sealed containers for extended use.
