Prelius Cabernet Sauvignon is an organic red wine from the Maremma Toscana appellation in Tuscany, Italy, produced by Castelprile — the Maremma estate of Federica Mascheroni Stianti of the renowned Castello di Volpaia family. The wine carries an IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) designation and is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
The vineyards are situated on a hill surrounding the ancient lake Prelius, just 5 miles from the Tyrrhenian Sea, facing the Tuscan archipelago. The vines grow in clay and sandy soils at 131–164 feet above sea level, trained using the Guyot method. The estate covers approximately 24.7 acres with a planting density of 3,886 vines per acre, all with a southerly orientation. The wine is aged for nine to ten months in large French oak casks, followed by additional bottle aging, resulting in a rich yet elegant profile with beautiful tannins and a long, seamless finish. Sold in cases of 12 x 750 mL bottles.
