Tooth & Nail The Possessor is a bold red blend from Paso Robles, California, produced by Tooth & Nail Wine Co. The wine is part of the winery's Audubon series, a collection of elegant, unconventional blends inspired by the classic naturalist art of John James Audubon, crafted with what the winery describes as "imagination and intention."

The 2022 vintage is composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc, sourced from estate vineyards in the Willow Creek District and the Chaparral Vineyard in the El Pomar District of Paso Robles. Grapes are night-harvested and individually fermented in a mix of oak foudres, stainless steel, and concrete tanks over 7 to 10 days. Bordeaux varietals are aged 12 months in French oak barriques (35% new), then finished for an additional 3 months in stainless steel before being bottled unfiltered.

The wine opens with aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, cedar, tobacco, black olive, and a hint of violet. On the palate it delivers flavors of blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate, spice, and forest earth with vibrant acidity and a long, silky finish. The wine has earned 93 points from both Wine Advocate and Wine Enthusiast. It is approachable upon release while promising additional complexity with cellaring for up to 12 years. It pairs well with beef, lamb, carne asada, and aged hard cheeses.
