Leyland Cypress #15

The Leyland Cypress is a fast-growing evergreen tree sold in a #15 (15-gallon) container, typically reaching 6–7 feet tall at the time of sale. It is one of the most popular privacy trees in North America, prized for its dense, feathery foliage that stays lush and green year-round.

Once established, Leyland Cypress grows an impressive 3 to 5 feet per year, quickly forming a tall, columnar screen. Mature trees reach 40–60 feet in height and 20–25 feet in width. The soft, non-prickly foliage makes it easy to handle and prune. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a variety of soil types, including sandy and clay soils. Hardy in USDA Zones 6–10, tolerating temperatures down to 0°F.

For a privacy hedge, trees are typically spaced 8–10 feet apart. Leyland Cypress requires minimal maintenance, low fertilizer input, and very little pruning to maintain its naturally uniform, symmetrical form.
