Château Fonréaud is a distinguished Cru Bourgeois estate from the Listrac-Médoc appellation in Bordeaux, France. The name "Fonréaud" derives from "Font-réaux," meaning "Royal Fountain," with origins tracing back to the 12th century. The estate is owned by Jean Chanfreau and is a member of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.
This red blend is composed of approximately 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot, aged for 12 months in 30% new oak barrels. It presents a medium-bodied, elegant profile with aromas of pepper, liquorice, baking spices, chocolate, and coffee alongside dark fruits including damsons, dark cherry, and blackcurrant. The palate offers blackberry, cedar, and tobacco notes with a rounded, supple texture and good purity. Alcohol content is 14%.
Pairs well with beef, poultry, and game such as deer and venison. Contains sulfites.
