Matilda Nieves Mencía is a Spanish red wine from Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, crafted by Bodegas Rectoral de Amandi. This elegant wine features a cherry red color with violet intensity and offers a beautifully balanced flavor profile with raspberries and blackberries complemented by light notes of licorice. The wine is round and complex with soft touches of tannin providing a persistent finish.

The wine is made from a blend of 85% Mencía, 8% Garnacha, and 7% Sousón grapes, hand-picked from steep terraced vineyards in the dramatic slopes of Ribeira Sacra. Grapes are macerated and fermented with native yeasts in contact with the skin for 15-20 days in stainless steel tanks, creating an unoaked wine that emphasizes primary fruit flavors in all their glory. The wine showcases dark, fresh, and thrillingly aromatic character with sloe, bramble, and damson fruits, featuring a soft-textured, mouth-filling palate structured more by sweet, juicy acidity than tannin.

This wine received exceptional critical acclaim, earning 97 points from Decanter (named "Best In Show" and Top 50 worldwide from the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards) and 91 points from both Wine & Spirits and Wilfred Wong. Perfect pairings include grilled red meat, roasted pork, braised lamb, and grilled skewered pork. The label features a wood fairy on her swing surrounded by the idyllic forests of Ribeira Sacra, and the wine is named after Matilda, one of founder Manolo Arnoya's granddaughters.
