Eruption by James Patterson and Michael Crichton

Eruption is a blockbuster thriller co-authored by two #1 New York Times bestselling authors: James Patterson and the late Michael Crichton. This posthumous collaboration completes a manuscript Crichton had been passionately pursuing for years before his untimely death in 2008. After discovering his notes and partial manuscript, his wife Sherri Crichton searched for over a decade until she found the perfect partner in Patterson, the world's most popular storyteller.

As the Big Island of Hawai'i faces a volcanic eruption of unprecedented intensity, the U.S. military is forced to contend with the consequences of a long-held doomsday secret. The story weaves together a botanist uncovering a mysterious and spreading botanical blight, a Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientist tracking an imminent catastrophe, and a helicopter pilot caught in escalating chaos — all converging as Mauna Loa prepares to unleash its most violent eruption in a century.
