Altos Las Hormigas Altamira Malbec is a single-appellation red wine sourced from the Paraje Altamira sub-zone of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina. Paraje Altamira is one of Argentina's most prestigious terroirs for Malbec, situated at high elevation in the Valle de Uco, where the combination of alluvial soils, cool nights, and intense sunlight produces grapes of exceptional concentration and complexity.
Founded in 1995, Altos Las Hormigas is a celebrated Argentine winery devoted almost exclusively to Malbec. The winery's philosophy centers on expressing terroir through wines that emphasize texture, tension, and freshness rather than heavy oak influence or overripe fruit. The Altamira bottling represents a step up from their classic tier, showcasing the depth and character that this storied appellation can deliver.
This wine typically displays deep violet color with aromas of dark plum, black cherry, violet flowers, and subtle earthy minerality. On the palate it is full-bodied with refined tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, structured finish. It pairs well with grilled red meats, lamb, aged cheeses, and hearty stews. Each bottle contains 750ml.
