Rockpile Zinfandel from Sonoma County is a bold, full-bodied red wine sourced from the Rockpile AVA, a rugged mountaintop appellation in northern Sonoma County known for producing some of California's most powerful and complex Zinfandel. The Rockpile AVA sits at elevations between 1,000 and 2,600 feet, with thin rocky soils that stress the vines and concentrate flavors, resulting in wines with deep color, rich fruit, and firm structure.
This Zinfandel typically expresses intense aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, and spice, with a full palate of ripe berry fruit, pepper, and toasty oak. The high elevation and cool Pacific influence from nearby Lake Sonoma moderate the growing season, preserving natural acidity and balance despite the wine's substantial weight. It is well-suited for pairing with grilled meats, barbecue, hearty stews, and aged cheeses.
Sold in cases of 12 bottles, each 750ml. Serve at 60–65°F. Suitable for near-term drinking or cellaring for 3–7 years.
