Breggo Cellars Chardonnay Anderson Valley is a vineyard-designate Chardonnay from the cool-climate Anderson Valley AVA in Mendocino County, California. The winery's name comes from "Breggo," the Boontling dialect word for "sheep," honoring the Anderson Valley's 150-year sheep-ranching heritage. This wine is sold as a 12-bottle case of 750ML bottles.
Breggo Cellars was founded in 2005 by Doug Stewart and earned recognition as Food & Wine magazine's "Best New Winery of 2008." After being sold to Cliff Lede Vineyards in 2009 and rebranded as Fel Wines, the Breggo name was reclaimed by Stewart in 2023 when Lede exited the Anderson Valley. The winery relaunched in February 2024 at its tasting room in Philo, CA. The Chardonnay is sourced from premium Anderson Valley vineyards including the acclaimed Ferrington Vineyard.
Anderson Valley's proximity to the Pacific Ocean creates a cool, fog-influenced growing environment ideal for producing elegant, high-acid Chardonnay with bright fruit character and mineral complexity. Breggo's vineyard-designate approach preserves the distinct terroir of individual Anderson Valley parcels, resulting in wines that express the unique character of each site.
