Château Benitey is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru red wine from Bordeaux, France, crafted from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The estate is located at the foot of the coast, east of Saint-Émilion, in the commune of Saint-Laurent des Combes. The wine is composed predominantly of Merlot (approximately 70%), aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels using 20 to 40% new oak.
On the nose, this wine reveals aromas of ripe cherry, red fruit, and minerality with hints of tobacco and leather. On the palate, it is structured and powerful with a well-balanced interplay of acidity and tannins, and flavors of plum, black cherry, chocolate, and sweet spice. It develops savory cedar and tobacco characteristics with age, reflecting the limestone terroir of Saint-Émilion.
This wine pairs well with beef, lamb, poultry, and game meats such as venison. It carries an alcohol content of 13.5% and contains sulfites.
