L'Orme de Rauzan-Gassies is the second label of Château Rauzan-Gassies, a storied Haut-Médoc estate whose origins date to the 17th century. Produced from old-vine Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon planted on sandy gravel soils in the Haut-Médoc just outside the celebrated Margaux appellation, this red Bordeaux blend is a refined and accessible expression of the classic Left Bank style.

The wine is a blend of approximately 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, delicately fermented in neutral cement tanks to preserve fruit integrity, then aged 12 months in French oak barrels. Full-bodied with rich aromas of ripe cassis, black cherry, and plum, layered with notes of violet, vanilla, and sandalwood, the wine shows a lovely fleshy texture with a long, dry, and elegantly structured finish.

The 2016 vintage earned a remarkable 97-point score and Best in Show honors at the 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards. Multiple vintages have received 91 points from Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and James Suckling. The wine is approachable in its youth and can be cellared for 5 to 15 years depending on the vintage.
