Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Sainte Vierge is a celebrated red wine from the Southern Rhône Valley in France, produced within the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. This cuvée draws on the region's storied winemaking tradition, where ancient vines grow in rocky, heat-retaining soils known as galets roulés — large rounded stones that absorb warmth during the day and radiate it at night to promote full ripening.
The wine is typically crafted from a blend led by Grenache, the dominant grape of the appellation, complemented by Syrah and Mourvèdre. It displays a deep garnet color with aromas of ripe dark fruit, dried herbs such as garrigue and lavender, leather, and warm spice. On the palate it is full-bodied with rich, velvety tannins, flavors of black cherry, plum, fig, and a long, complex finish characteristic of Southern Rhône wines of this caliber.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of France's most prestigious wine appellations, known for strict production regulations including hand harvesting and low yields. The Cuvée Sainte Vierge designation represents a selection of the estate's finest fruit. This 750mL bottle is ideal for pairing with roasted lamb, beef stew, duck confit, aged cheeses, or hearty Mediterranean dishes. It benefits from decanting and can be cellared for many years.
