Molino del Piano Brunello di Montalcino is a prestigious Italian red wine produced by Cantine Bonacchi in the renowned Montalcino appellation of Tuscany, Italy. Made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso (locally known as Brunello), this wine carries the prestigious DOCG designation โ one of Italy's highest wine quality classifications.
Brunello di Montalcino is celebrated for its structure, complexity, and exceptional aging potential. This wine typically exhibits deep ruby-garnet color, with aromas of dark cherry, dried herbs, leather, tobacco, and earthy minerality. On the palate, expect firm yet refined tannins, balanced acidity, and flavors of ripe red and dark fruit, licorice, and spice with a long, elegant finish.
By DOCG regulations, Brunello di Montalcino must be aged a minimum of five years before release, including at least two years in oak and four months in bottle. This extended aging imparts depth and complexity rarely found outside the great wines of Tuscany. Wine Enthusiast and CellarTracker reviewers have consistently awarded this wine scores in the 90-point range, recognizing it as an outstanding value for the Brunello category.
Molino del Piano is produced by Bonacchi, a respected Tuscan wine house with decades of experience in the Montalcino region. The wine is sold in a standard 750 ml bottle and is typically sold in a case of 12 at Costco.
