The Louis M. Martini Monte Rosso Vineyard "Gnarly Vine" Zinfandel is a celebrated single-vineyard California red wine from one of Sonoma Valley's most historic mountain sites. The Monte Rosso Vineyard sits at high elevation in the Mayacamas Mountains and is home to Zinfandel vines first planted in 1893 — now over 130 years old — the origin of the "Gnarly Vine" designation.

This 100% Zinfandel offers expressive aromas of Morello cherry, pomegranate, and orange zest layered with hints of leather, star anise, and clove. On the palate, notes of tea leaf, cherry, and red plum emerge, while Monte Rosso's signature earth and baking spice linger through a long, structured finish. The wine is full-bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity that give it excellent cellaring potential.

Grapes are hand-harvested, hand-sorted, and gently destemmed before fermentation in small open-top fermenters. The wine is then aged for 15 months in French oak, 60% new. Alcohol content: 15.2%. The 2021 vintage earned 93 points from Wine Enthusiast; multiple successive vintages have scored in the 90–94 point range from both Wine Enthusiast and Wine Advocate. Louis M.
