Attems Pinot Grigio Ramato Rosé is a traditional Italian rosé wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy, crafted entirely from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes. The name "Ramato" (meaning "coppery" in Italian) refers to this wine's ancient Venetian style, where the grape must is left in contact with the skins for approximately 10 hours, imparting a distinctive pinkish-copper hue and added complexity.
The Attems estate spans over 110 acres on south-facing terraced slopes near Gorizia, with soils of marl, sandstone, and loam cooled by the characteristic Bora winds of Trieste. Hand-harvested from low-yield vines, the grapes undergo gentle pressing followed by cold settling for 24–48 hours before fermentation in stainless steel vats at low temperature for 15 days. The wine then rests for four months on fine lees, developing texture and depth.
The wine presents a bright pale coral to copper-rose color with aromas of dried flowers, wild strawberry, white peach, kiwi, and citrus. On the palate it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, offering flavors of white grapefruit, green apple, mint, and subtle spice, finishing dry and refreshing. It has earned 90–91 points from James Suckling. Excellent alongside cured meats, prosciutto, pasta with vegetable sauces or shellfish, and aged cheeses. Alcohol: 12.5%.
