Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux's most celebrated estates, located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of the Graves region. Classified as a Cru Classé de Graves en Rouge, it is the sister property of First Growth Château Haut-Brion and is owned by the Dillon Family through Domaine Clarence Dillon SAS, with Prince Robert of Luxembourg serving as President.
This 3-liter double-magnum format presents the estate's signature red Bordeaux blend, typically composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The wine is renowned for its extraordinary depth, complexity, and aging potential — Robert Parker Jr. has awarded it a perfect 100-point score five times since 1982. Critics frequently describe La Mission Haut-Brion as "the quintessential insider's wine," capable of producing what Neal Martin called "a religious experience" in its finest vintages.
The wine is produced from gravelly soils that lend finesse and mineral tension. Annual production is approximately 6,500 cases of the Grand Vin, with La Chapelle de la Mission serving as the second wine. The 3-liter format is ideal for long-term cellaring, as larger formats age more gracefully and slowly than standard bottles.
