Telmo Rodriguez Gago is a flagship red wine produced by Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez, crafted from 100% Tinta de Toro — the local name for Tempranillo — sourced from the prestigious Toro Denominación de Origen (DO) in Castilla y León, northwest Spain. Telmo Rodríguez, one of Spain's most celebrated winemakers and formerly of Remelluri fame, founded his company in the 1990s alongside Pablo Eguzkiza with a vision to revive forgotten Spanish wine regions using only native grape varieties.

Gago is made from organically grown old bush-vines drawn from the oldest plots of eight partner grower families across Toro. The grapes are fermented in medium-sized stainless steel vessels and old oak vats, then aged for approximately 18 months in relatively neutral French oak barrels of 225 and 600 litres. This approach allows the wine to develop complexity while preserving the authentic terroir character of Toro.

The wine delivers aromas of black cherry, cassis, and blue florals with nuanced notes of game, truffle, chocolate, and soft dark wood spice. On the palate, silky dark fruit meets smoked heather and earthy mineral tones, finishing long and perfumed with the signature nutty tannins characteristic of Toro wines. At 14.5% ABV, it is certified organic and vegan, sealed with a natural cork.
