Château de Ciffre is an organically certified estate (since 2019) from the Saint-Chinian appellation in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, produced by Domaine Famille de Lorgeril. This red blend combines Syrah and old-vine Grenache grown on limestone terroir at elevations around 350 meters, which allows for gentle, slow ripening and elegant aromatic expression.
The grapes are manually harvested at peak maturity, then fermented in small tanks by individual plot with extended maceration lasting 30 to 40 days using very gentle extraction techniques. The wine is aged in barrel, developing complexity while preserving freshness.
The wine pours a dark garnet color with aromas of ripe dark fruit, red currant, leather, and hints of forest floor. On the palate it is juicy and smooth with toffee, bergamot, and jammy red fruit notes, supported by soft tannins from the old-vine Grenache. The wine finishes dry and long with great structure. It benefits significantly from extended breathing time or decanting. Pairs well with grilled meats, cassoulet, duck daube, barbecued dishes, poultry, and strong cheeses. Alcohol: 13.5%.
