Familia Schroeder Malbec is a red wine from the Patagonia region of Argentina, produced by a European family winery based in San Patricio del Chañar, Neuquén. The winery operates across a 120-hectare vineyard estate planted with Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, with all grapes hand-harvested. The vineyards are certified organic under ISO 22000 and Global Good Agricultural Practices standards.
Patagonia's viticultural conditions — light stony soils, pure water from Andean streams, intense sunlight, and a large diurnal temperature variation — contribute to wines with bright acidity, lifted aromatics, and expressive character. The Familia Schroeder Malbec typically shows aromas of red and dark fruits, including cherry, plum, and damson, with notes of spice and fresh herbs. The palate is structured and fresh with ripe, discreet tannins. Alcohol content is approximately 14.3%.
The winery gained additional recognition when Titanosaur fossils — among the largest dinosaur remains ever discovered — were unearthed during construction of the winery, inspiring the naming of their flagship Saurus wine line.
