Tenor La Reyna Blanca Chardonnay is a prestigious single-vineyard white wine sourced from the Royal Slope AVA within Washington State's Columbia Valley. Produced by Tenor Wines, the 2022 vintage earned Washington State's first-ever 100-point score for a dry white wine, awarded by critic Virginie Boone of JebDunnuck.com โ a historic milestone for Pacific Northwest winemaking.
The wine is crafted from 100% Chardonnay (Clones 76, 95, 96, planted in 2013), whole cluster pressed directly into 100% new French oak barrels of varying formats to build complexity. Fermentation occurred at low temperature over several months, followed by full malolactic fermentation for added weight and texture. The wine was barrel aged for 20 months, bottled unfined and unfiltered, with only 111 cases produced per vintage.
Goldenrod in the glass, the wine opens with tropical aromatics of starfruit, citrus blossom, and banana muffin, leading to flavors of orange oil, white peach, challah bread, and Maldon salt. Full-bodied with seamless balance, the long finish delivers orange cream, marshmallow, and hazelnut. Alcohol: 14.8%. Drinkability window: now through 2036.
