Vinum Cellars Chenin Blanc is a single-vineyard California white wine produced from old-vine Chenin Blanc grapes grown in Block 44 of the Wilson Vineyard in Clarksburg, California. The Clarksburg appellation benefits from a distinctive afternoon cooling trend that sweeps in from the San Francisco Bay, preserving the grape's natural acidity and freshness. The wine is fermented in stainless steel, resulting in a clean, fruit-forward profile with no oak influence.
In the glass, the wine pours a pale stone color with a silvery hue. The nose offers classic Chenin Blanc aromas of verbena, citrus, clover honey, and Casaba melon. On the palate, the wine is crisp and juicy with flavors of honeysuckle, citron lemon, and tropical fruit, supported by lively acidity and a mineral-driven finish of wet stone, lemon zest, Key Lime, pear grit, and passionfruit. It finishes bone dry.
Vinum Cellars was founded in 1997 by winemakers Richard Bruno and Chris Condos. The Wilson Vineyard has been farmed by the same family for four generations since 1922. This wine typically earns around 89โ90 points from Wine Enthusiast and is an excellent value alternative to unoaked Chardonnay. It pairs well with oysters, shellfish, roasted beet salads with goat cheese, and baked goat cheese tarts. Alcohol: approximately 12.5%. Sealed with a screwcap.
