Joseph Drouhin Chorey-lès-Beaune is a red Burgundy wine produced by Maison Joseph Drouhin, one of Burgundy's most celebrated négociant-éleveurs. Made entirely from Pinot Noir, this wine hails from the small Chorey-lès-Beaune appellation in the Côte de Beaune, situated just north of Beaune at the foot of the famous Corton hill, where soils of clay and limestone impart characteristic richness and texture.
The wine displays a bright, clear red color with aromas that are surprisingly intense and fruit-forward. On the palate, it offers a tender, supple, and graceful round body with a hint of blackberry jam in the finish. With age, wild blackberry gives way to notes of truffle, undergrowth, and venison. Grapes are harvested by hand, fully destemmed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts in small open vats for two to three weeks. The wine is aged for 12 to 16 months in French oak barrels, approximately 20% new, to integrate structure while preserving the delicate expression of the terroir.
Chorey-lès-Beaune is considered one of Burgundy's best-value appellations, offering the hallmark elegance of Côte de Beaune red Burgundy at an accessible price point. Optimal drinking window is 5 to 12 years from vintage, with aging potential up to 15 years. Serve at 16°C (61–62°F).
