Château Montrose 2017 is a prestigious red Bordeaux from the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the Médoc, produced by one of the region's most celebrated estates. Classified as a Second Growth in the historic 1855 Bordeaux classification, Château Montrose has long been regarded as a "super second" for its consistent delivery of exceptional quality wines with remarkable aging potential.
The 2017 vintage is composed of approximately 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, aged for 18 months in a combination of 60% new and 40% one-year-old French oak barrels. It presents a deep garnet-purple color with an expressive nose of black cherry, cassis, baked plum, dark chocolate, licorice, and candied violets. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with super-ripe, finely grained tannins and excellent freshness, emphasizing finesse and elegance over raw power. The 2017 earned a community average score of approximately 93 points on CellarTracker.
This wine is best enjoyed after several years of bottle age and has the structure and depth to cellar for 30 or more years. Each case contains 12 bottles of 750ML.
