Château Duhart-Milon is a prestigious Fourth Growth (Quatrième Grand Cru Classé) Bordeaux estate located in Pauillac, managed by the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1962. The 2018 vintage is widely regarded as one of the finest expressions of this property, earning 95 points and representing a benchmark for the estate.
The 2018 Château Duhart-Milon is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, sourced from a 76-hectare vineyard on the Milon hillside in northern Pauillac, adjacent to Château Lafite Rothschild. The wine is aged in approximately 50% new French oak barrels for 14 to 16 months. Deep garnet in color, the nose reveals spice, smoke, currants, tobacco leaf, and cedar. On the palate, the wine is round, lush, sweet, and fresh, with lusciously textured red fruits in a silky finish. The drinking window extends from 2026 through 2044, making this an excellent candidate for cellaring.
The estate's vineyards feature gravel, sand, limestone, and clay soils with an average vine age of 30 years, planted at 7,500 vines per hectare. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless vats with malolactic fermentation in vat. Best served at 15.5°C (60°F), ideally decanted 2–3 hours before serving. Pairs well with roasted and braised meats, lamb, beef, duck, and hearty fish courses.
