Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1997 is a rare Highland single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 1997 during the early tenure of Dr. Bill Lumsden as Director of Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie. Aged for 23 years and bottled at 43% ABV, it represents one of Dr. Lumsden's most distinctive experiments with wood maturation, featuring a cask finishing combination never attempted before or since at the distillery.

The whisky matured primarily in ex-Bourbon casks before receiving an exceptional finish in Château Montrose red wine casks from Saint-Estèphe, Bordeaux, complemented by oloroso sherry cask aging. This layered maturation yields vivid notes of red fruits and candied sweetness, with floral aromas of roses and jasmine, hints of cloves, mint toffee, and pastry. The palate delivers extraordinary berried depth alongside citrus brightness — the hallmark character of Glenmorangie's Highland style.
