Château Gazin 2019 Pomerol is a prestigious red wine from one of Pomerol's largest and most storied estates, situated on the northeast section of the Pomerol plateau in Bordeaux, France. The Bailliencourt family has owned this 26.5-hectare estate since 1946, farming predominantly Merlot alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc on soils of gravel, clay, iron, and sand.
The 2019 vintage is a blend of 88.5% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4.5% Cabernet Franc, vinified in cement tanks and aged for 18 months in 40–50% new French oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation completed in barrel. The wine is opaque crimson in the glass, offering a beguiling bouquet of red cherries, red plums, violets, truffle, subtle cocoa, and wet earth. On the palate it is medium-bodied, elegant, and fresh with silky tannins, ripe plum fruit, chocolate notes on the finish, and excellent balance. Critics have awarded it 94–95 points across major publications and recommend drinking from 2024 through 2045.
