Green & Red "Tip Top" Zinfandel is a single-vineyard red wine from Green & Red Vineyard, a family-owned winery founded by Jay Heminway in 1969 in the Vaca Mountain Range on the eastern hills of Napa Valley. The vineyard takes its name from the striking red chert soils veined with green serpentine that characterize the property. The Tip Top Vineyard sits at approximately 1,700 feet in elevation with a northeast-facing aspect, producing intensely flavored Zinfandel grapes from the cooler, higher-altitude terrain.
The wine showcases the bold, structured character typical of Napa Valley mountain-grown Zinfandel. Tasting notes highlight brambly dark cherry, savory pepper, and hints of mint with refined tannins and vibrant acidity. Wine Spectator awarded the wine 92 points, noting its structure and focus. The winery practices organic farming and has deep roots in the California wine community, with historical ties to figures such as Alice Waters. Current operations are led by Tobin Heminway and her husband Ray Hannigan, with winemaking by Aaron Whitlatch.
This 750ML bottle is sold as part of a case pack of 12 at Costco, representing significant value compared to typical retail pricing for this critically acclaimed single-vineyard Napa Zinfandel.
