Château Gazin is one of the most prestigious estates in Pomerol, the celebrated right-bank Bordeaux appellation known for producing some of the world's finest Merlot-dominant wines. The estate spans 26.5 hectares in the northeast section of the Pomerol plateau, with soils of gravel, clay, iron, and sand — including patches of prized blue clay that contribute to the wine's complexity.
The blend is composed of approximately 90% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Grapes are fermented in small cement vats and stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation carried out in French oak. The wine then ages for 18 months in 40–50% new French oak barrels, lending structure and depth while preserving the fruit's natural elegance.
Tasting notes feature ripe cherries, truffle, cocoa, chocolate, and floral violet and rose notes, with silky tannins and a long, refined finish. The wine is crafted for longevity, typically reaching peak maturity 10 to 30 years after the vintage. Annual production reaches up to 8,000 cases, making each bottle a rare opportunity to enjoy a benchmark Pomerol at the Costco price point.
