Château Malescot St. Exupéry is a prestigious Third Growth (Grand Cru Classé) estate from the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, France, with a history dating back to 1616. The estate has been under the stewardship of the Zuger family since 1955 and is recognized for producing thick, rich, pure, and aromatic wines that exemplify the elegance of Margaux.
The wine is a classic Bordeaux blend composed of approximately 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. Grapes are grown on 30 hectares of gravel, chalk, and clay soils with iron deposits, situated near the renowned Château Margaux in the village of Margaux. Vines average 35 years old, planted at a density of 10,000 plants per hectare. Consulting winemaker Michel Rolland advises on the winemaking process.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel fermentation tanks. The wine is then aged in 60–100% new French oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, contributing to its structured complexity and depth. Annual production averages approximately 9,000 cases. Tasting notes across recent vintages highlight lush, velvety tannins and layers of opulent dark red fruits, with aromas of black cherries, espresso, licorice, and chocolate. Best enjoyed after 10–12 years of aging, with a peak drinking window of 12–30 years from vintage. Sold as a case of 12 x 750ML bottles.
