Louis Latour Morey-Saint-Denis is a classic Burgundian red wine from the village of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits, produced by the renowned Maison Louis Latour. The wine is made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes harvested by hand from vines averaging 30 years in age, grown on chalk and limestone soils.
The vinification follows traditional Burgundian methods, with fermentation in open vats and 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from Louis Latour's own cooperage, with 20% new oak and a medium toast, which lends subtle structure without masking the fruit. The village of Morey-Saint-Denis sits just south of Gevrey-Chambertin and is known for producing wines with greater depth and concentration than its neighbors, with tannins that are less forthright and a rich character of red and black fruit.
Recent vintages have received scores of 91–94 points from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and James Suckling. The wine pairs well with game, red meats, and mature cheeses. It has a cellaring potential of 5–7 years and is best served at 15–16°C.
