Pyros Appellation Malbec Argentina 750ml

Pyros Appellation Malbec is a critically acclaimed 100% Malbec from Pyros Wines, sourced from the high-altitude Valle de Pedernal in San Juan, Argentina, at approximately 1,400 meters (4,600 feet) above sea level. The region's volcanic, mineral-rich soils and extreme elevation give this wine a distinctive character that sets it apart from Mendoza-region Malbecs.

On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of black plum, dark cherry, violet, crushed stone, and subtle spice. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, with flavors of blackberry, fresh cherries, pepper, and minerals, framed by silky chalky tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish. Aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels (2–4 years old) alongside 20% stainless steel aging for 12 months, the wine retains freshness while developing complexity.

The Appellation bottling is Pyros Wines' flagship expression of Pedernal Valley Malbec and has earned widespread critical acclaim, including 93 points from Wine Spectator (ranked #35 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2023), 93 points from Vinous, 92 points from James Suckling and Decanter, and 90 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Best served at 60–65°F; decant for 30 minutes before serving. Pairs well with grilled meats, lamb, empanadas, and aged cheeses. Sold as a case of 6 x 750ml bottles.
