Grasso Fratelli Trej' Vino Rosso Piedmont, Italy 750ML

Grasso Fratelli "Trej" Vino Rosso is a non-vintage red blend from Piedmont, Italy, produced by brothers Luigi and Alfredo Grasso, who have been cultivating 14 hectares in Valgrande in the municipality of Treiso, in the heart of the Langhe, since 1970.

"Trej" is Piedmontese dialect for "three," reflecting the three grape varieties that make up the blend: Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto in equal parts. Each grape is fermented and aged separately — Nebbiolo spends 15–25 days on the skins, Barbera 10–12 days, and Dolcetto just 10 days. Nebbiolo and Barbera are then aged for one year in large oak casks followed by at least one more year in tank, before being blended with the current vintage of Dolcetto.

The result is a wine with the structure of a Langhe Nebbiolo, with the sharper tannins smoothed by the fruit-forward character of Barbera and Dolcetto. Approachable and versatile, Trej pairs well with meats, cheeses, red sauces, pasta, pizza, and risotto — an ideal everyday table wine.
