Ferraton Père & Fils Les Miaux is a Hermitage wine from the Northern Rhône Valley of France, produced by the acclaimed Maison Ferraton Père & Fils, a winery founded in 1946 by Jean Orens Ferraton. The Les Miaux cuvée is sourced from vineyards in the prestigious Les Dionnieres and Le Meal lieux-dits in the Hermitage appellation, drawing from a terroir of clay, limestone, and alluvial soils. The wine blends fruit from the estate's own biodynamically farmed vines with purchased grapes from select growers, and is aged in 10% new French oak barrels for 14 to 16 months before bottling.
Since 1998, Ferraton has practiced biodynamic viticulture across all estate vineyards, and since 2009 the winemaking has been guided in partnership with Michel Chapoutier, further elevating the quality and precision of the wines. The Les Miaux Hermitage delivers characteristic Northern Rhône complexity — expect notes of crushed granite, red raspberry, cedar, black pepper, thyme, and smoke with a supple, structured palate and long finish.
Best served at approximately 60°F (15.5°C). Young vintages benefit from 2 to 4 hours of decanting. Pairs exceptionally well with roasted and braised meats, lamb, duck, game, and hearty dishes. Optimal drinking window is typically 10 to 30 years from vintage.
