Valdelacierva Alfar Reserva Edicion Limitada is a Rioja DOC Reserva wine produced by Bodegas Valdelacierva, part of Hispano Bodegas, located in the heart of Rioja Alta in Navarrete, Spain. Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes sourced from selected vineyards in Briones and Banos de Ebro, with vines ranging from 25 to 130 years old. The wine is aged in new and semi-new oak barrels. It has an alcohol content of 14.5%.
The wine presents a bright cherry red color with a garnet rim. The nose is complex and aromatic with scents of ripe black fruit, dried fruit, hints of cocoa, and vanilla oak. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with plenty of acidity and a nice structure, delivering flavors of raspberry, cherry, blackberry, and plum with herbal and vegetal notes into a persistent finish.
This wine received 93 points from Wine Enthusiast (retail price listed at $45) and 91 points from CostcoWineBlog.com, where it earned a Top Pick designation.
