Château Fonréaud Listrac-Médoc is a classic Bordeaux red blend from the prestigious Listrac-Médoc appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. The estate has been owned and managed by the Chanfreau family since 1962, with the fourth generation now at the helm. The vineyard spans 32 hectares in a single contiguous block on Pyrenean gravel soils with clay limestone subsoil, situated on the border between Listrac-Médoc and Moulis. The estate holds the Crus Bourgeois Supérieur classification and is a member of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.
The blend is composed of approximately 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot, producing a wine with a deep ruby color and 14% alcohol by volume. The nose opens with red and black fruits — cherries, blackberries, and raspberries — layered with notes of oak, tobacco, vanilla, earthy graphite, and leather. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied, dry and structured, with spicy tannins, bright acidity, and a seamless, elegant finish. The 2019 vintage earned Wine Enthusiast 91 points, Wine Advocate 90+, and Jeb Dunnuck 89 points. The wine pairs well with beef, game, poultry, and aged cheeses.
Château Fonréaud has pursued sustainability, earning Terra Vitis certification since the 2015 vintage and High Environmental Value (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification since 2018. Contains sulfites.
