Frédéric Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin is a village-level Pinot Noir from Burgundy's prestigious Gevrey-Chambertin appellation in the Côte de Nuits, France. Domaine Frédéric Esmonin is a family estate run by Frédéric, his father André, and his mother Michèle, who have farmed their 10 acres of vineyards for generations. The domaine began bottling under its own label in 1988 and quickly gained recognition for producing high-quality wines at remarkable value for the Burgundy pedigree.
The Gevrey-Chambertin village wine is crafted from Pinot Noir grapes grown in one of Burgundy's most celebrated communes. After harvest, a short cold maceration adds an extra dimension of fruit before the wine is aged for 14 to 17 months in French oak barrels sourced from Allier and Nevers forests, with approximately 20% new oak used for village-level wines. The wine is bottled without filtration to preserve its natural character. Critics describe the wines as rich in color, virile, profound, and concentrated, with elegant balance, silky tannins, supple texture, vibrant acidity, and a lingering finish.
