Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages is a classic red Burgundy produced by the renowned Maison Joseph Drouhin, one of Burgundy's most respected négociant-éleveurs. This wine is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from carefully selected villages within the Côte de Beaune appellation, excluding the grand crus of Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Pommard, and Volnay. The grapes are grown on clay and limestone soils, the hallmark terroir of the Côte de Beaune.
The wine is harvested by hand in open-work crates, followed by total destemming and 1 to 2 weeks of maceration and fermentation using indigenous or selected yeasts. It is aged in French oak barrels, with 15 to 20% new oak, for 10 to 14 months. All winemaking decisions are made through careful tasting evaluation guided by Véronique Boss-Drouhin, with priority given to expressing the true character of the terroir and vintage.
The wine displays a bright purple color with delicate red fruit aromas on the nose — cherry, raspberry, and subtle violet notes. On the palate it is both simple and elegant, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a clean finish that exemplifies what Pinot Noir can achieve on Burgundian terroir. Optimal drinking window is 2 to 5 years from vintage, with ageing potential up to 7 years. Serve at 16°C (61°F). Sold in a case of 12 x 750ml bottles.
