Teso La Monja Almirez is a premium red wine from the D.O. Toro appellation in Castilla y León, Spain, produced by the renowned Eguren family under the Teso La Monja label. Made from 100% Tinta de Toro, an ancient clone of Tempranillo native to the Toro region, this wine showcases the intensity and depth that has made Toro one of Spain's most exciting wine destinations.

The vineyards are organically and dry-farmed with selective biodynamic practices, featuring old head-trained goblet vines planted on north-facing slopes with clay soils and surface galets. Grapes undergo whole-berry fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and 14 months of aging in French oak barrels (30% new, 70% second use), lending structure and complexity without overwhelming the fruit character.

In the glass, Almirez presents a deep garnet color with aromas of ripe plums, dried flowers, licorice, garrigue, cedar, and undergrowth. On the palate it is dry, rich, and full-bodied with a juicy cherry-like finish. Recent vintages have earned impressive critical acclaim, including 96 points from Guía Gourmets and 93 points from Dunnuck.
