Pelissero Barbera d'Alba Piani is a 100% Barbera red wine from the Piani hill in Ferrere, in the village of Treiso within the Langhe region of Piedmont, Italy. The vineyard, planted in 1965 and 2005 with a density of 4,000–5,000 vines per hectare, has long been celebrated for producing high-quality Barbera. The wine carries the Barbera d'Alba DOC designation and is bottled at 750 ML.
Vinification focuses on expressing the grape's natural vinosity, complexity, and persistence. Maceration lasts 15–20 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by approximately 8–9 months of aging in oak barrels — 30–40% in barriques and the remainder in large 50-hectoliter casks. The wine is then blended, bottled, and rested for a couple of months before release. Low yields, extended maceration, and measured oak integration give this Barbera unusual longevity and structure.
In the glass, the wine is a bright, intense ruby red. The nose offers delicate aromas of blackberry and plum with a classically vinous finish. On the palate, pronounced acidity and saltiness drive the wine forward, balanced by polyphenolic power and a persistent, fruit-driven aftertaste. The elegance and structure of this bottling set it apart as an exceptional expression of Barbera d'Alba.
