San Polo Rubio is a 100% Sangiovese from organically grown grapes in the renowned Montalcino appellation of Tuscany, Italy, classified as Toscana IGT. The name "Rubio" means "Ruby" in Italian, a nod to the wine's brilliant ruby-red color with purplish hints.
The wine delivers an intense and persistent bouquet of red cherries, violets, and blackcurrants with subtle spice undertones. On the palate, it shows well-structured character with satisfying tannins and nuances of forest fruit and cherry, remaining elegant and approachable throughout. Rated 92 points by James Suckling, who noted "very fresh and bright" qualities with ripe dark cherries, dried raspberries, smoked herbs, spices, and cedar on a medium to full body with firm tannins. Alcohol: 13.8% ABV.
An excellent food wine, pairing beautifully with cold cuts, salami, pasta, grilled meats, sausages, and medium-aged Tuscan cheeses such as pecorino.
