Château Le Boscq is a prestigious red wine from the Saint-Estèphe appellation on Bordeaux's Left Bank in France. The estate dates to the early 18th century and was originally built for Thomas Barton. Since 1995, the property has been managed by Maison Dourthe, who modernized the winemaking facilities and completed a full purchase of the estate in January 2022. Organic certification is underway, beginning with the 2025 vintage. Château Le Boscq was classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 2020.
The 20-hectare single-block vineyard sits in the cooler northern end of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, with gravel and clay soils and vines averaging 30 years old. The blend is led by Merlot (56%), complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Petit Verdot (7%), and Cabernet Franc (2%). Grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by malolactic fermentation in tank. The wine is aged for approximately 12 months in about 45% new French oak barrels before bottling.
The wine offers aromas and flavors of black currant, espresso, dark chocolate, and tobacco leaf, with a medium-bodied, polished character and vibrant red fruit accents. Best enjoyed within 8 to 15 years of release. This Costco offering includes 12 bottles of 750ml each.
