Château Pape Clément 2019 is a Classified Growth red wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in the Graves sub-region of Bordeaux, France. This prestigious estate has a recorded history dating back to 1252 and has been owned by Bernard Magrez since 1985, producing some of the finest wines in the appellation.
The 2019 vintage is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aged in two-thirds new French oak barrels. It displays a dense purple hue with stunning aromatics of crème de cassis, graphite, lead pencil shavings, scorched earth, and tobacco. On the palate, it offers notes of black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, and licorice with a full body, ultra-fine tannins, and exceptional balance combining elegance and power. Critical scores average 95.7/100 across major publications, including 98 points from Jeb Dunnuck, 97 points from James Suckling, and 97 points from Vinous Media.
The wine offers some accessibility upon release but benefits from 4–5 years of bottle age and is projected to cellar beautifully for 20–25 years or more. Optimal drinking window is estimated at 2027–2040. The estate is certified bee-friendly. Sold in cases of 12 × 750ml.
