BACA Home Base is a bold, expressive Zinfandel sourced from the Dry Creek Valley AVA in Sonoma County, California. Produced by BACA Wines under the HALL Wines portfolio, this wine draws fruit from two acclaimed vineyards on the eastern side of the valley — Rudy's Vineyard and Mauritson Home Ranch — with vines ranging from 40 to 70 years old. Dry Creek Valley, one of California's oldest wine regions, has been celebrated for Zinfandel since the 1880s, its warm days and dramatically cool nights producing rich, concentrated fruit.
The wine pours a deep, inky ruby and opens with aromas of ripe dark berry, cracked pepper, mocha, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, lush layers of black raspberry and cherry are accented by fennel frond, dark chocolate, and warm baking spice. The finish is long and refined, with supple, well-integrated tannins. Aged 10 months in barrel, the 2022 vintage earned 93 points from critic Owen Bargreen, who praised its freshness and depth. The wine drinks beautifully now and will continue to develop over the next eight to ten years.
