Château Haut-Bailly is one of the most celebrated Grand Cru Classé de Graves estates in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. This exceptional 3-liter Jeroboam format presents four bottles' worth of wine in a single vessel, ideal for special occasions, large gatherings, and long-term cellaring, as larger formats age more slowly and gracefully than standard bottles.
The estate's history stretches back to the early 16th century, with the property taking its name from the Le Bailly family who co-owned the land beginning in 1630. The vineyard spans approximately 30 hectares of gravelly soils in Léognan, producing a wine that has become synonymous with elegance and silky refinement on Bordeaux's Left Bank. The blend is typically led by Cabernet Sauvignon (55–65%), complemented by Merlot (22–35%) and small proportions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for 18–20 months, with around 60–75% new oak.
Haut-Bailly is renowned for wines of extraordinary aromatic complexity, combining ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum with floral violet notes, cedar, graphite, and earthy mineral undertones. The palate is marked by plush, fine-grained tannins and a long, elegant finish. The wine is consistently awarded 95–99 points by leading critics including James Suckling, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck, and Decanter. It pairs superbly with prime rib, rack of lamb, game meats, and aged hard cheeses.
