Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte is the second wine of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Grand Cru Classified estate in the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux, France. Since 1990, owners Daniel and Florence Cathiard have transformed the estate into one of Bordeaux's elite properties, embracing organic and biodynamic farming to produce wines of exceptional purity and precision. The estate's gravel-rich terroir, shaped by river stones deposited by the Garonne over millions of years, is a defining influence on the wine's character.

Produced with the same meticulous care as the Grand Vin, Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, aged 14 months in French oak barrels with 20% new oak. The wine offers a deep garnet-purple hue with aromas of plum preserves, crème de cassis, blackcurrant, licorice, and graphite, with floral and mineral nuances. The medium to full-bodied palate is structured with firm, grainy tannins and vibrant freshness, leading to a long, mineral-lifted finish. Critics have awarded it 92–94 points across major publications including James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, Decanter, Vinous, and Wine Advocate.

This wine pairs well with steak, duck, aged cheeses, and risotto. It benefits from a few years of additional cellaring to allow its structure to integrate and its complexity to fully emerge.
