Château Bouscaut is a Grand Cru Classé de Graves red wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux, France. The estate, one of the largest in the Cadaujac commune, has been owned by the Lurton family since 1979 and is currently managed by Sophie Lurton and her husband Laurent Cogombles. The 52-hectare vineyard sits on gravel, clay, limestone, and sand soils on sloping hillsides.
The red wine is a blend of approximately 50% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot. Vinification takes place in cement vats and stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels (approximately 35% new) for 16 months. The wine is characterized by dark cherry, tobacco, and earthy notes with silky tannins and a medium-bodied, elegant profile.
Château Bouscaut was certified organic with the 2023 vintage. The wine is best enjoyed at around 60°F and pairs well with lamb, beef, veal, duck, game, roast chicken, and Asian dishes. Young vintages benefit from 1-2 hours of decanting and typically reach peak maturity between 9-17 years of age.
