Gap's Crown Vineyard is a 100-acre estate planted between 2002 and 2005, situated on the western hillside of Sonoma Mountain in the town of Penngrove. The vineyard lies within the Petaluma Gap AVA, where afternoon winds funnel cool Pacific fog through a natural gap in the coastal mountain range, creating an exceptionally cool and wind-stressed growing environment that slows ripening and concentrates flavors.

Furthermore Wines was founded in 2006 by Chad Richard and Bob Zeches, who left Silicon Valley careers to focus on sourcing Pinot Noir from California's finest vineyards. Rather than owning land, Furthermore works with prestigious growers to produce limited-production, terroir-driven wines. Their Gap's Crown bottling is regarded as one of the best-value releases from this storied vineyard, which has attracted celebrated producers including Kosta Browne, Gary Farrell, and Three Sticks.
