Château d'Armailhac is an 1855 Fifth Classified Growth estate located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, France, owned by the descendants of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The estate traces its origins to 1750, when it was known as "Mouton d'Armailhacq," and was restored to its current name in 1989 by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild. Situated adjacent to the renowned Château Mouton Rothschild, the approximately 70-hectare vineyard is planted on four distinct gravel banks with clay-limestone subsoils, providing ideal growing conditions for each grape variety.
This 2021 vintage Bordeaux red blend is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot rounding out the blend — a hallmark combination for the appellation. The wine is aged in French oak barrels and presents a deep red color with purple reflections. The expressive nose delivers aromas of black fruits, roasted notes, and hints of sour cherry and spice. On the palate, the wine shows a structured attack with ripe dark fruit, blackcurrant, and licorice flavors supported by fine, well-integrated tannins and a long, harmonious finish with a refreshing freshness characteristic of Pauillac.
With significant aging potential, this wine exemplifies Château d'Armailhac's signature style of elegant classicism. Each bottle is 750ML at approximately 13% ABV.
