Ukan is a premium Tempranillo wine from Rioja DOCa, Spain, produced by a small family winery in Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa. Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes sourced from old bush vines on clay-limestone soils, the wine is sustainably farmed and hand harvested in 15kg crates. Approximately 80% of the grapes are manually destemmed with 20% whole cluster, then fermented in 20-hectoliter French oak open-top vats before aging 16 to 18 months in French oak.

Ukan is the iconic wine of the estate, crafted by fifth-generation winemaker Koldo and his cousin Eduardo. The grapes come from three separate old-vine Tempranillo vineyards, each vinified individually before being blended into a single elegant and complex wine. The result is a rich, structured red with notes of blackberry, cassis, black currant, purple plums, and violet, supported by powerful tannins.

This wine pairs well with legumes, red meat stews, roasts, and dark chocolate desserts. It has received notable ratings including 95 points from Tim Atkin and Wine Enthusiast (2020-2021 vintages) and 92 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
